A Note of Thanksgiving from City Church

A Note of Thanksgiving from City Church

Colossians 4:2 “Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.”

As I survey all that the Lord has done at City Church I have so much for which to be thankful:

We have been meeting for public worship for over one year now. Our first worship service was on September 13, 2009. The Lord has caused us to grow both in numbers and more importantly in understanding the depth of His love and power. We began City Church with about 45 men, women, and children. I have not made it my practice to do a regular ‘counting’ of people in worship services so as not to focus too much attention on numbers. In writing this note of thanksgiving, I counted the number of people I would consider ‘regulars’ at City Church and was shocked to see that number at 100 not including visitors or those who only occasionally attend.

  • The Lord has blessed us with several men and women who have willingly taken up leadership of our various ministry areas. These people have been a major source of blessing to me personally.
  • We are currently in the second phase of our Sunday night Discipleship program and are looking at adding a Sunday morning component in the new year.
  • We currently have three community groups that meet at least two times per month for meals and fellowship. Our people seem to be enjoying this new format.

The Lord has been very good to us in providing us low-cost space for worship. We have been meeting in the Downtown YMCA since our launch. In the new year we anticipate moving into a new space in the Logos Academy auditorium that will allow us to seat more people. We anticipate continuing our partnership with the Y in serving York City.

  • The Lord has blessed us beyond what we could have asked for or hoped in the area of finances. Thank you to those of you who have generously given and prayed to make the work a possibility. We sincerely appreciate what you have done and your ongoing prayer and support.

Please continue to keep City Church in your prayers. We have so much for which to be thankful. The Gospel is really, really Good News for us and for York City.

Grace and peace to you on behalf of the City Church family,

Aaron Anderson
